Warkworth and Amble

Exploring Warkworth

Warkworth is a village in Northumberland located close to the Northumberland coast. Less than a 30-minute drive from Doxford Cottages, Warkworth is known for its magnificent castle, beach, incredible views and local shops.

Head to Castle Street, the main street in the village, which offers gift shops, art galleries and places to grab a bite to eat. It’s framed beautifully with Warkworth Castle at one end and the Parish Church of St Lawrence at the other.

Warkworth beach is also just a short walk from the village,  with golden sand dunes and views across the coast.

A coastal walk to Amble

Amble is a short 30-minute walk from Warkworth along the beautiful River Coquet. Once you reach Amble you will find a harbour filled with fish shacks, seafood eateries and pastel-painted beach huts.

The retail pods are full of arts, crafts and local produce ideal for a shopping day out. If you’re interested in water sports you can also try your hand at surfing, canoeing and kayaking, to name a few.

If you are looking to explore the coast by bike, Pedal Power is based in Amble and has a great selection which will cater to all needs.
