Doxford Cottages

Seahouses and The Farne Islands

The coastal village
of Seahouses

The fishing village of Seahouses is just a 15-minute drive from Doxford Cottages and the perfect base for Northumberland’s coast. The bustling harbour is home to a number of shops and restaurants as well as views across the coast to Bamburgh Castle. If you fancy a stroll, the coastal walk from Seahouses to Bamburgh is roughly three miles.

One of the main attractions of Seahouses is the boat trips across to the Farne Islands which we highly recommend. You will need to book ahead as these boat trips are very popular.

A boat trip to
the Farne Islands

The Farne Islands are a group of rocky islands off the coast of Northumberland. Home to 23 species including 43,000 puffins and Atlantic grey seals they have one of the largest bird sanctuaries in the British Isles. You can take a boat trip directly from Seahouses harbour to see the wildlife for yourself. Make sure to take your camera!
