Excellent place to stay , close to gorgeous beaches of Northumberland We had a wonderful time . Cottage is beautiful . Spacious yet cosy . Everything you could need is in the cottage . Beautiful location . Loved watching the birds outside of the patio doors . The wood and lake are peaceful and beautiful . So close by car to Bamburgh , seahouses etc Cant wait to return .

Fresh air and freedom If you are looking for the best impeccable comfort in a peaceful setting with easy access to miles of wild beaches, wild skies and wild life (and sometimes wild weather), then this is the place to be.

The perfect retreat Doxford Cottages take holiday rentals to a new level! Superb location, feeling as though you are in the middle of nowhere when you are there, but close to the A1 north or south and 3 miles from the sea in the other direction. Wonderful beaches, castles, country pubs, fabulous walks, it has it all. The properties themselves are to die for; furnishings, decor, space, particularly wonderful curtain fabrics, the lot. You won't do better in this part of the world.

Marvellous as ever On our 6th visit to Longlands Cottage we were again delighted with our cottage. The cottage was again immaculate and well cleaned prior to our arrival. Just the place for the peace and quiet that we all need at present.Plenty of room with an en suite and a separate bathroom, comfy furniture and a woodland view from the dining area. We were blessed with the best weather for several weeks and enjoyed our beach walks and excellent meals at both The Horseshoes Inn at Rennington and The Jolly Fisherman at Craster..see our separate reviews.Another super stay and hope to be back soon..Thanks again to Sue.

Fantastic from start to finish Doxford Cottages are just so lush! We've just returned from a long weekend break staying in Wellwood cottage (sleeps 4) - we travelled with our two young children, the eldest of which slept in a normal bed and a travel cot was provided for our littlest one. The cottage also had a high chair. The cottage has been beautifully renovated, is spacious, and extremely well equipped. There was never a moment where we thought, oh it would be good if they had x,y, or z. They have literally thought of everything! On arrival there was a lovely bunch of flowers, a bottle of wine and a jar of honey waiting or us, which was a lovely touch and very much appreciated. Sue met us when we arrived and gave us a quick run through of everything. She was very friendly. We had a log burning fire in our cottage which was great and very atmospheric, the beds and bedrooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms spacious and nice and modern. We really couldn't find any faults, it felt very homely. In summer it would be lovely to use the patio and outdoor seating. There is a playing field for the children (and adults if you like!) with a huge trampoline, swings, climbing frame and balls to kick about. There's also an indoor games room which seemed to be open all the time, with fusbal, table tennis, pool and air hockey. You can also walk down to a little loch, but we didn't really go there due to the weather this time! We saw all sorts of different wildlife and it was very quiet and peaceful. The cottages are located a short drive from the stunning coastline, market towns and there really is lots to explore. We would definitely recommend staying here and we hope to return in the future maybe with friends or family. Oh, and the customer service is really excellent, my husband left his laptop charger behind and Sue has kindly posted it back to us 1st class, and also phoned to let me know she's done that. Thank you very much!

Good place to stay We stayed here with relatives in December in a two bedroom cottage and this time just the two of us tried a one bedroom, we were concerned about the size, but "Shellrig" was perfect for us, It has everything we needed, even a TV in the bedroom, which was handy for watching the Rugby World Cup, there was ample room downstairs for four people, it has a washing machine and a dishwasher

excellent holiday home We spent a long weekend in Carriage House for a family celebration. The house is beautifully appointed . A lot of thought has been given to ensure that everything you could possibly need is provided. The rooms are all spacious and the layout of the cottages means that you have a lot of privacy and are not overlooked by neighbouring properties. Everything worked and is clearly well maintained. We took a few trips to surrounding villages and explored the amazing beaches in the area. The children enjoyed the trampoline and swings and in general, the freedom to run around safely.We hope to return in the not too distant future.

Highly desirable Doxford Estate Cottages are very true to their website description and exceed that description through the experience. All are beautifully cared for inside and out, and extremely well equipped. There is also pleasant and courteous help on site should it be needed. The site is quite undisturbed by its proximity to the A1 which provides easy access to the cottages at the end of a long journey. The estate is a real rural hideaway, yet there is easy access to the thrills of the coast north and south and equally to adventures deeper into the west of Northumberland.We stayed in 'Shellrig' for a week in June during some atrocious weather, but we were still able to experience beaches, birds, castles and countryside with the assurance of a warm, comfortable home to return to at the end of the day.

Schönes hundefreundliches Quartier! Die Räume waren sehr schön und die Umgebung sehr ländlich .Die Betten waren sehr bequem , nur die Stühle in der Küche sind sehr hart und haben leider keine Kissen! Das Personal ist sehr freundlich!Die Hochzeit war fantastisch und das Hochzeitsessen ausgezeichnet! Die Getränke an der Bär sind allerdings absolut überteuert! Das WLAN war zwar kostenlos, aber sehr schwach!
